James Redpath
Managing Director, Cypress Associates
Mr. Redpath is a Managing Director of NYC-headquartered Cypress Associates, where he advises clients in healthcare and other emerging growth industries, with particular expertise in behavioral health. He has been an investment banking and corporate finance professional since 1990 and has closed more than 100 transactions totaling over $30 billion in value across sell-side and buy-side M&A, growth capital financings, joint ventures, strategic partnerships, leveraged buyouts, restructurings, and fairness opinions. Mr. Redpath has deep experience across the behavioral health continuum, having advised and completed transactions in outpatient psychiatry, residential and outpatient substance use disorder treatment, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs, and behavioral health information technology. He is also actively engaged in behavioral health–focused philanthropy, serving as a long-standing Board Member and Audit Committee Chair of Joe Torre Safe At Home, a nonprofit dedicated to ending the cycle of domestic violence and promoting healing for affected youth and their families. In addition to his role at Cypress, Mr. Redpath is a Partner in FDL Health Investors, a private equity firm focused on healthcare real estate, and is a co-founder of Medpod Inc., a telehealth company. Prior to joining Cypress in 2010, Mr. Redpath held senior leadership roles at Deutsche Bank Securities, where he led the North American Healthcare M&A business; Friedman, Billings, Ramsey & Co., where he served as Managing Director and Co-Head of the Healthcare Investment Banking Group; and Ziegler Capital Markets, where he headed Corporate Finance. Earlier, he was a senior healthcare M&A professional at Morgan Stanley and Wasserstein Perella after beginning his Wall Street career at Kidder Peabody. Mr. Redpath earned a B.A. in Economics, magna cum laude, from Colgate University, where he was a four-year starter at midfield on the lacrosse team and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School where he co-captained the HBS lacrosse team. He holds Series 7, 24, and 63 securities licenses.
