Rev. Robert P. Hagan, O.S.A.

Rev. Robert P. Hagan, O.S.A. is a dedicated Catholic priest with extensive experience in leadership, pastoral care, spiritual direction, and education, offering a unique blend of legal expertise, administrative skills, and a deep commitment to the spiritual and academic growth of individuals and communities. Fr. Rob currently serves as the 41st Prior Provincial at the Augustinian Province of St. Thomas of Villanova, in addition to Team Chaplain of the Villanova University Men’s Basketball and Football teams. He leads the east coast Augustinian Province and Villanova’s athletes with the Augustinian values of Truth, Unity and Love and the motto, “Each of us strengthens all of us.”

Before Fr. Rob’s ordination, he served as a Criminal Defense attorney with Gillin and Associates for seven years. He was a past member of the Philadelphia Bar Association, the Delaware County Bar Association, and the Delaware County Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Following his ordination to priesthood in 2003, Fr. Rob served as Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance and then Senior Associate Athletics Director at Villanova University until 2022. In this role he oversaw all aspects of Student-Athlete Welfare, which included oversight of the Sports Medicine and Strength & Conditioning departments in addition to the team chaplain for the football and men’s basketball programs.

Fr. Rob serves as prison chaplain at The Chester State Correctional Institution and as weekend assistant at St. Paul’s Parish in South Philadelphia.

A native of Drexel Hill, Pa., Father Rob attended Cardinal O’Hara High School and graduated from Villanova University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He went on to earn a J.D. from Widener University School of Law in 1990 and a Master of Divinity (MDiv) from the Washington Theological Union in 2003.
